Omron, a global leader in automation, will showcase its latest technology for the factory of the future at PACK EXPO 2018 in Chicago this month.
The display will include Omron’s new line of collaborative robots which are safe, simple to program, and easy to integrate with other equipment.
Earlier this year Omron announced a strategic alliance with Techman Robot, a Taiwanese manufacturer of integrated-vision collaborative robots.
Under the new agreement, Omron will market and sell Techman’s TM series of collaborative robots through its worldwide distribution network under a co-branded logo, starting in the second half of this year.
The two companies will also cooperate to develop a new generation of collaborative robots that will be easier to integrate with Omron’s other factory automation products.
As well as the TM series, Omron will also sell new “mobile-compatible” models which can be integrated with its LD family of mobile robots.
These robots, which move autonomously by avoiding people and obstacles, are already being used to automate material-handling operations around the world.
Humans and machines working in harmony
With a cobot mounted on top, they will not only be able to transport materials from one location to another, but will also be able to perform tasks such as the pick-and-place of parts onto trays, in each location.
Also, Omron will have its LD mobile robot on display along with the high-speed, high-precision Quattro robot, ideal for pick-and-place packaging applications.
At PACK EXPO 2018 Omron will demonstrate how humans and machines work in harmony.
The company’s latest sensing, control, safety, vision and motion technology will also be on display.
And with last year’s acquisition of Microscan, a company known for its high-performance barcode reading, barcode verification, machine vision and data connectivity solutions, Omron now has an unmatched traceability portfolio that covers marking, reading, verification and data transfer.
Maximising productivity
The traceability demo at PACK EXPO will highlight how Omron’s technology can minimise the impact of recalls and maximise productivity by providing real-time data on all supplier materials, machinery, operators and processes involved in production.
When implemented, these technologies can ensure regulatory compliance, boost quality and safeguard brand reputation.
Omron provides fully integrated solutions that minimise design time, maximise uptime, ensure speedy deployment and increase the overall ROI.
PACK EXPO International, to held from October 14-17, is the world's largest packaging trade show. This year’s show is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors from across the globe.
