The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) is hosting a special tour of one of Victoria’s biggest recycling plants next month.
They are inviting industry participants to visit the Banyule Material Recovery Facility and Rethink Education Centre, about 7km from Melbourne CBD on August 15.
The Rethink Centre is part of a working industrial site devoted to waste and recycling and includes a Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
Visitors to the MRF will see what happens to the contents of their household recycle bin.
They will also discover how science and technology play a part in sorting used newspapers, cardboard boxes, jam jars, soup cans and soft drink bottles and cans into paper, glass, steel, plastics and aluminium ready for reprocessing.
