The Flinders University Centre for Maritime Engineering in collaboration with Boeing Defence Australia is inviting applications for two robotics scholarships.
Boeing is seeking graduates to undertake a PhD in Robotics specialising in Autonomous Marine Vehicles.
The successful applicants would have an opportunity to work on two exciting projects:
- Collaborative Autonomous Vessel Guidance for Monitoring an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle
- Launch and Recovery of a Small Autonomous Underwater Vehicle from a larger Underwater Vessel
The Centre for Maritime Engineering has excellent facilities to support these research activities. It currently has two large autonomous surface vessels – a WAM-V ’16 and a Pacific 22 RHIB, and an autonomous underwater vehicle – a Graal Tech X300.
Benefits
Two top-up scholarships of $14,000 a year will be provided for up to three years to successful applicants. This will augment an Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) Stipend Scholarship or equivalent competitive scholarship.
Eligibility
Applications are invited from students who are starting a PhD in 2019 (between January - March).
Applicants should be eligible to enrol or be currently enrolled at Flinders University in 2019.
Applicants must hold a first class Honours degree or equivalent in a discipline relevant to the chosen field of study (Master/BEng in Robotics/Mechatronics or equivalent discipline).
Also, they should hold an Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) Stipend Scholarship or equivalent competitive postgraduate scholarship
Applications are open to Australian Citizen students only.
Applications close on November 30.
