Two and three-dimensional data from smart cameras, vision systems and control units with 2D-/3D profile sensors can now be evaluated via a single central software platform.

Introducing, uniVision 2.1 from Treotham which can be used to analyse images and height profiles in the field of industrial image processing.

Users can achieve a finished vision application intuitively in just a few steps and without programming knowledge.

Costs, as well as induction and training requirements, can be significantly reduced thanks to the flexible combination option of individual hardware components via a shared software platform.

The uniVision software is structured like an intelligent toolbox. The algorithms for images and height profiles are similar and can be used on different platforms.

Different software modules

For example, the measurement module runs on smart cameras, as well as vision systems.

In total, users have up to 25 different software modules available (e.g. measurement, threshold value, cluster, OCR, pattern matching and tracking).

And, there are 14 different templates, including read 1D codes, presence check, detect pattern or detect colour, depending on the hardware selected.

There are also extensive video tutorials available online, with detailed instructions on how to use the software. An assistant is also available for smart cameras, which guides users through the setting step by step.

Simple operating concept

The Wenglor developers have worked hard to ensure that the software for all hardware components can be set up quickly and easily with no programming knowledge.

To simplify use of the software for newcomers, predefined projects (templates) can be selected and used for the most common standard applications. If additional, individual settings are required for a project, more than 25 software modules are available to experienced users.

Images, coordinate systems or values can be combined with each other as desired, thus providing newcomers as well as experts with maximum possible application freedom.

“Customers frequently have major problems with teaching and training new software required for new hardware products. This quickly becomes confusing, takes up lots of time and costs money”, explains Wenglor CamTec expert Tobias Braun.

“With uniVision, we finally have a central software, which combines all components of industrial image processing, such as smart cameras, vision systems and control units with 2D-/3D profile sensors.

“This is a major benefit for our customers.”

Interfaces provide a good connection

uniVision 2.1 also delivers an impressive performance when integrating hardware and software in existing plants and systems.

Process data can be processed via standard connections such as digital IOs, as well as via TCP/IP and UDP.

For robots from well-known manufacturers like Yaskawa, Fanuc or Kuka, the software also offers suitable interfaces for easy integration of control units with 2D-/3D profile sensors in tracked welding applications.

“uniVision is unique on the market in terms of both function and modular design. No other product combines more software and hardware know-how on a single platform”, says Braun.

“This will be expanded even further in future, so that uniVision remains the central platform for industrial image processing in the future.”
