Think learning about fascinating topics from professors over a beer sounds like a great idea?
Raising the Bar is a worldwide initiative aimed at making education a part of a city’s popular culture.
This year’s Raising the Bar Sydney saw 20 free talks by academics in 10 bars across Sydney.
One of the talks – Me, My Robot and I – was delivered last month by Fabio Ramos, Associate Professor in machine learning and robotics at the School of Information Technologies, The University of Sydney, and co-director of the Centre for Translational Data Science.
His research focuses on statistical machine learning techniques for large-scale data fusion with applications in robotics, mining, environmental monitoring and healthcare.
In his talk, Fabio discusses recent advances in deep learning that allow robots to learn by themselves and get better at accomplishing these missions. He also describes applications of robotics – from gaming to healthcare.
If you missed it, don’t worry.
Inside Robotics is happy to share this link to a podcast recording of Fabio’s talk:
