Under the theme, From Innovation to Transformation, ABB showcased its latest industrial digital solutions at a mega exhibition in Melbourne yesterday.
The new portfolio of digital solutions – ABB AbilityTM – is designed to improve operating efficiencies and empower the digital transformation of its customers across the utilities, industries, transport and infrastructure sectors.
More than 700 participants across a broad section of industry and government bodies attended the inaugural ABB Customer World - Australia at the Melbourne Convention Centre.
The new technology has one common goal – to improve efficiencies, lower operating costs and enhance competitive advantage for ABB customers.
The new Innovations are designed to advance the digital grid of the future and integrate renewable energy, intelligent manufacturing along with software-defined machines, smart sensors, cloud services and smart buildings.
National and international speakers, included Dr Otto Preiss, Chief Operating Officer ABB Digital who officially launched ABB Ability in Australia.
Driving operational excellence
Dr Preiss explained how digitalisation can significantly improve the business bottom line and how the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and ABB Ability solutions can drive operational excellence.
Keynote speaker Victorian Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio outlined the Victorian Government’s energy initiatives to reach energy targets.
Ms D’Ambrosio said it was vital for Victoria to provide clean, reliable and secure energy for industry and the community.
An expert panel then discussed “How to achieve 50 percent renewable energy without comprising grid stability,” providing a platform for speakers to share their insights and answer questions surrounding energy in Australia.
The panel, chaired by ABB Local Divisional Manager, Power Grids, Roland Vitelli, included Alistair Parker (Executive General Manager – Regulated Energy Services, AusNet Services), Chloe Munro (Independent Energy Expert), Tennant Reed (Principal National Adviser, Public Policy, Australian Industry Group) Massimo Danieli (Global Business Unit Manager, Power Grids Grid Automation, ABB Group).
